2014 Atlanta Science Festival
At the end of March 2014, Atlanta held its first annual Science Festival. The festival culminated in an Expo Day at the GA World Congress Center where booths with family-friendly activities showcased the research of the city's scientists. In the first 2 hours nearly 1000 kids touched the human brains. The CTSN with Conte Center investigators, teamed up with the ACSFN and CBN to create the booth called “Hands on Brains” with interactive activities including touching a human brain, building a brain with play dough, etc and two of the CTSN Conte Projects developed activities related to their projects, including remotely controlling a living roach through stimulation of nerves with an iPhone to illustrate neural communication, and a monkey face matching touch screen task.
